Yea I played around with the Google Maps API for a while. When I was doing my research, I found there are lots of sites such as Dive Directory, which offer very comphrensive maps - linked to very "statistical" guides about the sites.
My thoughts on this were two-fold
1) I don't think people browse for dive sites by looking at a world map for instance, they search for where they are going and want to find out more.
2) The "data" side of competitors is very strong. I decided to go down the path of trying to compile more "local knowledge" in our scuba diving location guides.
Aside from that, it would only really be me adding to it, so the task would be mammoth.
I haven't ruled it out completely and thank you for the suggestion! Maybe if I get some more hands helping me!
