TOPIC: Impaired Divers

Impaired Divers 1 Year, 8 Months ago
Has anyone here ever seen a dive master tell a diver that they could not going to the water because they were under the influence? I've read about impaired divers getting into trouble. I would assume there are also instances where they were refused entry into the water.

If a diver smells of alcohol we will not even let them get onto the boat! Why should the others in the group have their safety or enjoyment put at risk?

Alcohol is probably the #1 contributing external factor to decompression sickness as well.

Talking to a guy working at a decompression chamber, he said 95% of cases can be attributed to partying the night before / hangovers /dehydration.

Alcohol + Diving really do not mix at all. Personally, I don't drink at all when diving.
