The BBC have been running television advertisements showing off their new series 'Oceans' which is due to screen in Autumn 2008. The series started off in July 2007, with a team of four experienced divers and environmentalists with the mission to build a global picture of our seas. With over 50 locations dived, 445 hours of underwater film captured and 188 dives, this is likely to be one of the most detailed and revealing series about our seas yet.
The Oceans dive team consists of:  | Lucy Blue With a passion for the past, Lucy Blue brings maritime archeology to life. |  | Paul Rose Polar explorer and expedition leader, Paul Rose guides the team. |  | Tooni Mahto Maritime biologist and oceanographer Tooni Mahto discovers the richness of ocean life. |  | Philippe Cousteau An environmentalist with an impressive family history who started diving at just 8. | The team ventured into some of the planet's most challenging environments and with the help of scientists and dive teams, they descended beneath frozen Arctic ice-sheets, dived into mysterious black holes in the Bahamas and plunged into the dark water with the fearsome Humboldt squid. Expedition leader, Paul Rose says "We are here to understand the Earth's oceans and put them on a human scale." summing up the enormity of the documentary task. The results of the expedition, which took over a year will be shown in an eight part series on BBC Two. Seeking to provide a better understanding of the state of our oceans today, their role in the past, present and future and their significance in global terms.
