Haha, bloody marvelous! Some of them are ridiculously hard! Did you photo all of these yourself? I demand you post pictures with the fish ringed, I can't find them all

I enjoy the challenge but not knowing where they were taken makes it almost impossible.

If not then I could try to guess what family group they came from at best.

I think I know what they all are, was just having a bit of fun as I love their camouflage.

Feel free to have a go at identifying them though, see if you come to the same conclusions as me.

They were all taken in the Red Sea, Egypt, Sinai area.

Scorpionfish?

Re:Can you tell what it is yet? 2 years, 2 months ago #1866

I got all but the last one lol! My identification skills aren't that great but the first and last look like scorpion fish. I'm not sure on the middle one. Probably all scorpions lol!

Ok, this is what I thought..

I think this is a lizard fish, hard to tell which with most of it hidden

leopard flounder

Stonefish

Scorpion fish

I think this is a young stonefish

The stonefish and scorpion fish are the same family and seems to have lots of variations. I'm still surprised that the family also includes lion fish.

I did see a flathead scorpion fish that was quite cool, but the photo did not come out too well. It lost all the colour at the depth it was. Was a shame as it was a nice colourful fish.

I just realised my post doesnt make much sense as i missed the first two photos off lol. I was refering to the post that only has the three photos on it lol.

Because of the way the fins fan out on all sides, including the tail my guess is that picture 2 is a Peacock or Banded dole.

If the color is good the fish in picture 4 looks like a Stonefish. This fish is the same color as sand.

In picture 5 I think it might be a Tassled scorpionfish because of the way the pectoral fins fan out like feathers.

Any luck on my red animal? My posting is “Sea life identification”
