Once I become a Master Scuba Diver with PADI, do I need to renew this certificate to keep the title?

I will be complete by July 2011. In Canada we don't do much diving in winter. Unless we go under the ice and this doesn't interest me.

You don't need to renew unless PADI decide they need more money

Of course with PADI you'll need to do a scuba review if you haven't dived for 6 months

EFR needs to be refreshed every 2 years and as part of rescue I don't know if you let that lapse you'd lose rescue diver and master scuba status. I don't think those PADI qualifications themselves run out though, but it's recommended to keep you skills up to date with refreshers when needed.

Professional certs are different though e.g. DM and anything above that

EFR does run out, no other qualification does. You just lose 'active status' for professional levels, which means you haven't paid to keep it active, nothing to do with diving!

I get my first aiders card updated every 2 years at work. So I must be OK then.

For basic EFR yes, it wouldn't pass as a UK fishermens first aid course as it doesn't cover hypothermia enough.

When I renewed I forgot to tell them I had AED as well

You will not find that you ever lose any PADI Recreational Level Certification due to time, unless of course as previously stated, you let your EFR certification to lapse in which case you will not be covered for insurance purposes only.

The MSD application is actually free to send into the PADI office in a bid to get people trying as many specialties as possible.
