we are going to a wedding in punta cana, dominican republic. we will have one day free, and wanted to know if it is worth taking our gear to dive there. has anyone ever gone diving? we could do an expensive all day trip to isle catalina, or just dive locally at Bavaro beach. It is a cost to take our dive bag, and don't want to do it if we will be disappointed. Any opinions?

I was in Punta Cana about 4 years ago diving. I found the Catalina trip and the wreck off of the beach ok dives. Given the choice, I'd opt for the Catalina dive. It is always nice to dive in warm water. I usually dive in the cold Pacific Northwest. The biggest challenge was not being able to stay down as long as I liked, as the dive master always brought the whole group up, once anyone was low on air.

I hate that. Now I tell them before hand that I will not be coming up until either I get to 50 bar or the specified maximum dive time is reached. If they are not happy with that, I do not dive with them.

Hi, by the way.
