Thanks for the comments and corrections. What exposure protection would you recommend then?

Sounds like warm enough maybe for a 5mm wetsuit?

I have dived in a 3mm surfing suit in the middle of the summer. Shore diving in the summer can be done with a 5mm but I always recommend a 5+5 semi. The 5+5 will be suitable all year yound, it's just the air temp that's a killer. I use Oceanic Shadow suits in my school.

I personally use a drysuit all year round nowadays but have dived in an old semi all year round.

I've dived in a drysuit and a wetsuit, I've never seven seen a semi-drysuit.

Do you still use BCD for buoyancy in a semi drysuit? Or is it like a drysuit?

semi drys are the same as wet suits they just have better seals around the ankles, wrists, etc. The seals just help restrict the water movement and so prevents fresh cold water coming in contact with you.
Your bouyancy will all be with your BCD

Wetsuits let water through as you move.
Drysuits don't (shouldn't) let any water in.
Semi-dry suits are like wetsuits but let a tiny amount of water in as the air escapes. It traps the water in, which is minimal, with good seal on the wrists, ankles and neck. Semi dry hoods usually sit inside the suit and creat a good seal. They work well down to about 10 degrees. I have used one at 7 degrees bit got cold after 30 minutes. You may have used one and not realised it

BCD for buoyancy as the semi hold no air.

You'd need to check the weather first, or just ask me. Water is a little cold right now, 10 degrees yesterday, the brilliant sunshine made it a pleasure to get in. Just trying out the new HD video setup, going in again later.

Best months are May to October. Sept/Oct the water is still 16/14 degrees and the air feels colder.
