TOPIC: Diving watch advice wanted

Diving watch advice wanted 3 years ago #874

So, I've booked a 6 day liveaboard and I figure it's time to splash out and get my own diving watch.

I have a budget of between £250-£400 (max!). I want something that can maybe take me through to technical diving, and act as a usual watch too.

I've been looking at a few Suunto watches and I wonder - does anyone have any recommendations for me?

Are you wanting a watch or a dive computer?

If you are after a combination (I have a Suunto Stinger, which is both) I would recomend going for one with out an air feature - unless your reg has 2 high pressure ports.

If you combine air with your watch, and somthing happens to your watch, you are in deep trouble, and have no option but to surface.

My plan is to switch to one with air, but I have 2 High pressure ports so I can have an analogue air guage as backup.

I have an old Citizen Hyper Aqualand which doubles as a dive computer.

I've been on a deep dive where for some reason all three sets of gauges died and we ended up finishing the dive on the Instructors Hyper Aqualand.

That was enough for me to go out and get one.

Always good to have a backup.

Cheers,
Shane.

I dive a cochran computer 3 gas that way I can use it for nitrox ect... on shallow dives less than 100ft. Any deeper and I plan my dives before I go and only use timer mode and I back it up with an oms bottom timer. I dont have to keep a log book that way (I'm lazy), just download it on my computer.
