DAN, Diver Alert Network is a supporting medical and emergency agency dealing with all kinds of diving accidents and medical emergencies. They network with other rescue and ambulances to provide coverage to Hyperbaric chambers world wide.
DAN has courses to get divers(all styles) certified in a variety of specialized divisions. Everything from standard o2 delivery to advanced DMT work.

DAN insurance is cheap (because of the number of members and rarity of call outs), but can be a life saver.

If you're a regular diver, then DAN cover I think is an absolute must.

What's everyone's opinion on that?

Re:DAN 3 years, 5 months ago #172

I signed up for DAN insurance after I got my AOW. I've never (thankfully) had to use it and I hope I never will.

It's worth every penny to have the peace of mind, if for whatever reason something does go really wrong one day, I'll have a good chance of getting sorted.

I'd recommend it to any diver.

You do have to give the folks at DAN a lot of credit. They developed an excellent safety net for divers who may have significant need for what DAN offers.

Yeah, its a very good thing. However I have a doubt whether recreational divers other than the professional ones must have a DAN insurance cover.

One thing I noticed about the DAN accident reports, it sees most accidents occur when someone is out of shape or otherwise impaired.
